Caring for Your Cutting Board
What to Do
Immediately after use, wipe with a soft damp cloth (with or without soap) and dry thoroughly with a cloth or a paper towel.
Either monthly or when the board appears to need care (i.e., lighter spots appear, the wood feels rough/dry to the touch, liquid starts to absorb rather than remain on the surface, etc.), treat the board with food-grade mineral oil. The best product to use is our blend of triple-filtered organic beeswax and food-grade mineral oil, which will seal the pores and fill any cracks in the wood.
Be careful to apply the oil to both sides of the board to help prevent potential warping, and wipe off any excess when done.
What Not to Do
Do not leave the cutting board wet, and never submerge or soak in water!
Do not wash in the dishwasher or place in an oven!
Do not use edible oils (e.g., olive oil, vegetable oil, sunflower oil, etc.) to treat the board, since they will become rancid and alter the flavor of your food.
